About Us

We are Austinbikes. We are a bike shop, not a bike store. We offer the best, fastest, most comprehensive service available. We ride what we sell, we believe in our brands, and we practice what we preach. We also listen to you. Our goal is to be the best bike shop in the world.

Sol

Sol has been riding bikes for thousands of years (it seems). Inspired by his sister, Kassia, when he was a wee lad, he eventually found his way into a bicycle race. He would next throw away a perfectly good degree in architecture (best 7 years of my life!) to open a bike shop and sell his favorite two wheeled objects to commuters, crazies, and amateur riders just like him. Sol's favorite movie is Raising Arizona. He's the 7th child of 8. He currently rides a very fast Ridley Noah with SRAM Red components on the road, and has also been seen tearing around in the dirt on his sweet Scott Scale hardtail. Sol really likes SRAM components. Sol and his lovely wife, Nicole, have 2 sons, Ethan & Lucas, so he's got that going for him, which is nice.

Eric

This is a great pic of Eric & Sol. Eric's wearing a Batman chest protector from Sol's nephew's Halloween costume. Anyway, he's ridden bikes his whole life but really got into it in the early 90s when he moved to Texas from the Chicago area. He used to be one of those engineering-types but got tired of the grind & spent most of his time staring out his cubicle window thinking about riding his bike. Now he's doing what he loves to do. His fave bike is his sweet 1987 50th Anniversary Schwinn Paramount painted in 50th anno gold metalflake, but he also digs riding his custom Mosaic with SRAM Red, his speedy carbon Scott Scale RC in the dirt, and his old Miyata conversion. He's a caffeine addict, he eats all the time, and he loves to rock.

Scott

Scott is a not-so-recent graduate of UT and Cat 1 road racer. He claims he has ridden and/or raced track, cyclocross, and MTB, but this is largely believed to be a myth. He does what he can to reduce the shop's carbon footprint such as recycling, reducing, and reusing as much of the shop's waste as possible, commuting by bike, not eating meat, and introducing the use of recycled and compostable products. Scott can often be found plunging the shop's French press to feed the collective caffeine addiction. Other interests include cute fuzzy animals, music that will annoy Eric, sleep deprivation, and discovering new ways to avoid growing up. Oh, yeah, and he's also the current 2010 Texas Age-Based Crit Champ in his age group, whatever that is. Go Scotty!

Satoshi

The cornerstone of all things mechanical at AB, Satoshi has been known to rebuild a rear shock, overhaul a King rear hub, and realign the stars all in 7 minutes. Half man/half robot/half Monster. 100% metal.
